Paul’s second canonical letter to the Corinthians is the New Testament’s equivalent to the book of Job. Some of Paul’s friends had turned against him, and he used this letter as an opportunity to defend himself from their accusations. Paul filled the book of 2 Corinthians with a dense and compact theology, as well as with his own powerful emotions.
Paul also wrote about his ambitions in this letter—ambitions produced by the hope of a future resurrection. He wanted his life to be controlled and governed by the will of God, because he knew that we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ on the last day.
We know now what drove Paul to fulfill his mission. What is it that drives you?
